AHeirloom | Present Please!

For the next present worthy occasion, I hope to receive one of these goodies in Nebraska form! (Sis, take note) You can find these amazing United States cutting boards by AHeirloom here. Any state can be special requested and a heart can be placed over home. Aw! I sure can't think of any other way I would rather cut my veggies.

His motor's slow paced | Vernon, Florida

Life has been pretty hectic around these parts with the ongoing job hunt, internship, and the barely profitable retail job. Oh the joys of post-college meanderings. I must say, working around documentaries for my intern position with NW Documentary has exposed me to all sorts of hilarious characters both on and off film. Today involved a brave journey into the downtown Portland FedEx Office. Someone outta make a film about the customers that frequent that place, I was thoroughly entertained throughout the visit.

I thought I would share a clip from my all-time favorite - Errol Morris' Vernon, Florida. Made in 1982, his film has been christened the documentary that spawned all mockumentaries. These people are (or were) real. Even better, he filmed them by default because his initial subjects - people who severe their own limbs for insurance fraud - threatened to kill him. I love this old man kicking his turtle (which is apparently not a turtle).

Tree Swingin' Summer

Swinging from the homemade tree swing made by my dad is one of my favorite summer childhood memories. He always pushed us higher than felt safe and the swing brought all the neighborhood kids together to play. Summer has arrived and I am itching for some wind on my face and some soaring above branches.

Covet this | Three Potato Four

Three Potato Four has been a longtime inspiration to me in terms of both vintage style and online store design. This husband and wife duo have been running the business out of their apartment, but in recent news have announced a move to Philadelphia to open a brick-and-mortar 3P4 shop. You can still buy online here, and check out their blog too! Super inspiring.

The Field House | Seattle, WA

FINALLY!* Seattle's oh so stylish men's boutique, Blackbird, has given their female fans something to drool over. I just caught word today that they opened a girl-friendly boutique called The Field House in the Ballard district of Seattle and am wishing I was still living in Tacoma to be all the more near. With its rustic sweaters and muted reds, the store's camping-esque style is everything I covet (Pendleton, yes please!). I may find a reason sooner than I thought to visit those old college pals up in Washington....

The Field House
5465 Leary Avenue NW
Seattle, WA 98107

open daily 10 to 7

edit* It appears as though this place has been open since last October and even Lucky Magazine is behind on its reporting. Anyway, despite the fumble at the gate of discovering this great news, I am still cheering and ready to get there asap.
